Beyond The Ordinary

Mission Statement

The Wayward Foundation is committed to strengthening communities across the State of Maryland by providing affordable, stable housing and comprehensive support services to vulnerable populations. Our mission is to expand access to safe and sustainable housing opportunities for veterans, Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) participants, and individuals returning to society after incarceration.

We accomplish this mission through strategic housing initiatives, property development and management, housing-related supportive services, and community revitalization programs designed to promote long-term stability, self-sufficiency, and neighborhood restoration. By partnering with local agencies, landlords, community organizations, and service providers throughout Maryland, we work to reduce homelessness, recidivism, and housing insecurity.

In addition to our housing efforts, The Wayward Foundation provides compassionate assistance to victims of drunk driving accidents and their families. Support services may include emergency financial assistance for households facing hardship due to medical expenses, loss of income, or funeral costs; access to individual and family counseling services; and referrals to legal aid resources to help families navigate complex legal processes.

We are equally committed to prevention and public education. Through statewide awareness campaigns and community engagement initiatives, we actively promote the message “Don’t Drink and Drive.” By fostering responsible decision-making and encouraging public participation, we aim to reduce impaired driving incidents and protect Maryland families from preventable tragedies.

Through housing stability, supportive services, and proactive community education, The Wayward Foundation seeks to restore dignity, promote accountability, and build stronger, safer communities for all Maryland residents.
