Self-Employment
This primarily targets veterans who have limited access to traditional employment, need flexible work schedules, or need a more accommodating work environment due to disabling conditions or other life circumstances.
Independent Living Service
This is for veterans who aren't currently able to work due to the effects of their disability, with services aimed at improving their independence in daily living.
Drug and Alcohol Counseling
This targets veterans who struggle with drug or alcohol addiction. The Foundation, directed by its counselors, assesses individual needs and situations, develops a plan to achieve sobriety, links veterans with vital drug and alcohol resources at the VA and in the community, and monitors progress toward planned goals — refining the approach as needed.
Temporary Financial Assistance
Limited financial assistance is available to help veterans remain in or obtain permanent housing, covering:
- Rent (not including mortgage payments), penalties, or fees
- Utility fees
- Security or utility deposits
- Moving costs
- Transportation
- Child care
Eligibility requirements
We welcome individuals and families who meet our program qualifications. Qualifying person(s) must have at least one day of active military service, be homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, hold a discharge status other than dishonorable, and have very low income. Assistance is also open to a veteran's spouse and minor children, even if they are not veterans themselves.
